Reading and Phonics



In school children read in a group situation concentrating on skills, fluency and expression. Parents are asked to hear the children read on an regular basis at home and complete your child’s reading record accordingly.



The children also experience a wide variety of writing activities which include creative and informative writing, letters, stories, poetry, non fiction and drama/role play.



Phonics is introduced through ‘Phonics Bug'. The children are then encouraged to learn common spelling patterns and recognise common exception words in KS1.
