The forest school ethos is to encourage and inspire children to complete small, achievable tasks in a woodland setting, enabling them to grow in confidence, self-esteem and gain independence and interpersonal skills. It is a holistic, child-centred approach to learning.
At Hamstead Infant School, we aim to provide our children with a safe and fun forest school environment, where they can learn about the natural world. Forest school activities are exciting, allowing children to experience challenge, risk and problem solving, whilst remaining safe.
Here at Hamstead Infant School, we provide regular sessions, led by qualified forest school leaders in our own forest school setting. Every child has the opportunity to make regular visits to the forest over an extended period of time.
"The 'Forest School' area is of excellent quality and contributes much to pupils' good spiritual, moral, social and cultural development."
